metal traces in the aluminium sheets used to store and cook food can migrate into food and accumulate in the brain and bones, leading the brain not to function intellectually
A document recently published by the Italian National Committee for Food Safety, has warned that wrapping food with aluminium foil could be injurious to health.

The document published on the website of the Ministry of Health, states that the metal traces in the aluminium sheets used to store and cook food can migrate into food and accumulate in the brain and bones, leading the brain not to function intellectually.

“Do not wrap sandwiches in aluminium, the potential health risk is especially for vulnerable sections of the population,” which the document notes are children and pregnant women.

The Italian Deputy Minister of health, Pierpaolo Sileri who spoke on the subject, said: “we must inform the population and therefore on the ministry’s website there will be indications on how and when to use this metal sheet in the kitchen. For example, do not keep your child’s sandwich for hours in the aluminium foil. ”

Mr Sileri urged companies that produce aluminium foil for help, and stressed misuse of the metal sheet could be harmful to health.

The Italian Health Ministry has written to the European Commission to bring this issue into food safety agenda.
