The rape took place in the Oltretorrente district of Parma where the little girl’s parent runs a grocery shop
In a land mark case that has caused outrage in the northern Italian city of Parma, a 38 years old Nigerian has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for raping eight-year-old Nigerian baby. The incident which occurred in December 2018, got investigators on their toes, and on March 8, 2019 the man was placed under house arrest.

The slow Italian judicial system finally sentenced the 38 years old Nigerian to two years imprisonment on February 14, 2020. The sentence was greeted with outrage, and on the social media the Italian judicial system took the knocks for handing just two years for such a heinous crime against a minor.

The rape took place in the Oltretorrente district of Parma where the little girl’s parent runs a grocery shop. The mother of the girl had urged the 38-year-old to watch the shop and the little girl for her while she was out. No sooner the woman left than the little girl was taken into the toilet and raped. The 38-year-old Nigerian threatened the little girl not to tell anyone what had happened. He again raped her a further two times in that period of December 2018.

The traumatised little girl summoned the courage and told her mother what had happened, and the mother without wasting time went to the local Carabinieri to lodge a complaint about what had happened to her child.

The presiding judge while passing verdict found the 38-year-old Nigerian guilty of the crime of sexual violence against a minor. Before the sentencing, the Carabinieri of the Parma central station had proceeded to execute the order of pre-trial detention on the accused. In the end, the Nigerian paedophile ended up in the prison facility on Via Burla to begin his two years sentence.
