The police in Lagos have rescued a 46-year-old American lady from the captivity of her fraudster lover boy, 34-year-old Chukwuebuka Obiaku. The police in a sting operation rescued the lady in a hotel in Lagos.

The American was lured to Nigeria in February 2019 with a promise of marriage by Obiaku after they met on Facebook. The moment the unnamed American landed in Lagos, Obiaku took control of her credit, debit cards and retirement benefits.

According to the police, between February last year and this month, Obiaku succeeded in forcing the lady who is a retired civil servant from Washington DC, to part with $48,000.

Obiaku, also used the victim to defraud her associates and other people abroad, including companies, the Police added, pointing out that they received a tip from a patriotic individual and they used the information to rescue the American.

The moment the American arrived in Nigeria last year, Obiaku staged a phantom marriage with her in May, and proceeded to hold her against her will for a total of 16 months in the hotel room. Three other persons were arrested along with Obiaku who the Police say would be charged for cybercrime.
