Because of these measures Monteleone di Puglia is free of the virus
Monteleone di Puglia, near Foggia in the region of Puglia, is a small town of some 1,000 inhabitants. This town has earned praises for taken proactive measures to protect its inhabitants from being infected by the Coronavirus. The major of the town, Giovanni Campese, aware he hadn’t the resources to take on the virus decided from the start to lockdown the town using everything at his disposal. For instance bales of hay were used to block all entrances in and out of the town. According to Campese, “We used the material at our disposal, not being equipped with many roadblock barriers, so we resorted to the raw materials of our community.” Five citizens of the town who returned from the red zone up north were confined to self-isolation. Because of these measures Monteleone di Puglia is free of the virus.
