A 64-year-old Nigerian male has been confirmed to have died of the New Coronavirus in the city of Modena. A local publication il Resto del Carlino Modena reported the death, publishing the name and photograph of the Nigerian, before confirming the cause of death.

The 64-year-old reported to have previous health issues, had taken ill and was home for several days in his Via Morselli 9 apartment, where he lived alone. A friend who usually stop by and greet him at the window discovered that his blind was down on the day of his death and promptly notified the authorities.
Health workers, firefighters and the local police rushed to the apartment, taking every care since the cause of death had not been ascertained. The Nigerian lifeless body was found on the floor of his apartment.
A city’s magistrate ordered an autopsy and a swab to check for Covid-19, the result of the autopsy has now confirmed that the Nigerian died from being infected by the Coronavirus. The Nigerian who had lived in Italy for the past 30 years, was a leader in the immigrant community. He was among the first to sit on the Immigrant Council of Modena as its Vice President between 1999 to 2004. The Mayor of Modena Gian Carlo Muzzarelli and the President of the City Council Fabio Poggi all expressed their condolences on the demise of the Nigerian.
As at press time AfroLife gathered from competent sources that the Embassy of Nigeria in Rome disapproved of the publication of the photograph and name of the late Nigerian, and was exploiting diplomatic channels to register its disapproval.
