Femi Fani-Kayode, according to his former handler Olusegun Obasanjo, would bark for the right price
His name is now synonymous with pomposity, arrogance, egotism and corruption. Femi Fani-Kayode, the self-styled opposition politician is in the news again. This gadfly who has arrogated to himself the champion of opposing the APC led Nigerian government, was recently captured on camera insulting a journalist.
Fani-Kayode by his own admission in the clip that has now gone viral on the social media, said he had toured six states of Nigeria (under his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP), apparently to assess the performances of the governors.
He was in Calabar, the Cross Rivers State capital after his so called tour of the state when he insulted the journalist. At a press conference he organised to grandstand, the journalist wanted to know who was bankrolling the tour.
That simple question infuriated the self appointed champion of the opposition. “What type of stupid question is that,” Fani-kayode railed at the journalist. “I will not take any question from this man…what type of insulting question is that…” he added furiously.
If the journalist thought he had seen and heard enough he was mistaken because Fani-Kayode then went on and showed his true colour. “I could see from your face before you got here how stupid you are,” he charged at the reporter, who had to sit down in obedience to his “lordship” Femi Fani-Kayode.
Fani-Kayode for the avoidance of doubt served as Minister under Olusegun Obasanjo. He was handpicked by the former soldier to man the Aviation Ministry. Fani-Kayode is remembered not for his achievement in that Ministry but for the hatchet job he did for Obasanjo in taking on the Ota farmer estranged deputy Atiku Abubakar.
At one cabinet meeting beamed on television, Fani-Kayode was seen insulting Atiku, using expletives only a Fani-Kayode could direct to the person of the Vice-President.
So, the Nigerian public should not be surprised at what transpired at Calabar. Even his former handler Obasanjo has had to contend with the acidic length of Fani-Kayode’s tongue. He likes attention, and being the man of paltry means, in terms of ideas, resorts to shouting and grandstanding just to get noticed.
Who is Fani-Kayode by the way? The typical Nigerian politician, evil in nature, bereft of compassion, self serving, insincere, dodgy and of questionable character. This is a guy who is not engaged in any meaningful occupation or trade order than romancing offices of government.
This dude has cases of corruption hanging all over his neck. In decent clime these are characters that should bury their heads in shame but not in Nigeria where useless politicians ride roughshod over decent human beings.
What got me reeling in laughter was when he asked the journalist if he knew who he was and how many times he had gone to jail during this Buhari’s administration. I had a good laugh at that really.
Who cares who you are Fani-Kayode, you’re just another hustler, looking for his bread to be buttered by a system that is endemic in corruption. Why didn’t you tell the journalist why you’ve become a jailbird under Buhari? You see, that is the insincerity that you exemplifies. You should have gone on if you had that gut to tell of your corruption cases. Do you really think anyone is deceived that you’re on a mission on behalf of the Nigerian people in embarking on these spurious tours? The last time I checked you’re still jobless – you see why the poor reporter yearned to know your source.
This chap like politicians of his ilk, is the reason Nigeria has gone to the dogs. Sadly, they know nothing about leadership but keep dancing naked in high places in Nigeria.
