The Nigerian has become a hero in this vibrant city and environs. Since the start of the season Osimhen has been of fire for Napoli scoring 22 Serie A goals in 27 appearances for his team. He tops the goal chart in Italy with five matches to end the season.
The whole city erupted into celebration on Thursday after Osimhen’s 52 minutes goal to secure a 1-1 draw at Udinese to seal the title. At a packed Maradona Stadium where die-hard fans followed the match, the name Victor Osimhen intermittently reverberated into chants.
Osimhen became the club’s most expensive player in the summer of 2020 for a whooping €70 million. Former Italy’s world cup winning midfield maestro and then Napoli coach, Gennero Gattuso, wanted Osimhen so badly in his team that he took a pay cut.
Victor Osimhen has etched his name in the history of Napoli, a city that never forget its heroes.
